Aims
Paragon Kickboxing Academy believe that no child, individual, or family should be excluded from Kickboxing activities on the grounds of age, ability, gender, health, sexuality, class, family status, means, ability, colour, ethnic origin, culture, religion, or belief. We aim to ensure that all who wish to work hard and achieve big within our Academy, should have an equal chance to do so.
Admissions
Our Academy is open to everyone in the community. All students will become members via completing a pre evaluation phase while providing our clearly outlined tuition fees.
The Curriculum/Syllabus/Teachings
Our Academy has a curriculum with outlined requirements for each grade / goal or achievement they wish to earn. We also respect that personal circumstances need to be considered which may mean that any curriculum may need to be broken down for that person to enable them to achieve their goals.
Special Needs
The Academy recognizes the wide range of special needs of children and families in their community and will attempt to offer places to any individual whatever their or their families, special need may be. The Academy only offers mixed ability classes so the individual will have to be able to carry out activities on their own with self discipline while the instructor helps others. If the individual is not able to do this then one to one sessions may be required. Please get in touch to see if this can be arranged.
Discriminatory Behaviour/Remarks
This is unacceptable in our school. The response will aim to be sensitive to the feelings of the victim(s) and to help those responsible to understand and overcome their prejudices. Our disciplinary policy will also be followed.
Disciplinary Policy
If and when a disciplinary needs to be issued to a member of the Academy the subject matter will be evaluated and dealt with there and then if it’s a small matter. If in a case the matter needs some thought a case will be developed and will be concluded asap. Disciplinary, depending on severity can be anything from a bunch of burpees to being expelled from the Academy.
Complaints Procedure
If at any time you are unhappy with any of the above then please complain to the head instructor. I will investigate the complaint, listening to all volunteers, children and families affected or involved. Each party will have the opportunity to give their point of view and we will come to a conclusion. I’d like to think that issues can be solved easily enough as long as you come forward with the matter straight away, please don’t hide any concerns you may have as this may make matters worse.
Paragon Kickboxing Academy Safeguarding Policy
This Policy applies to all, including instructors, parents, volunteers and students or anyone working on behalf of the PKA. PKA deems that anyone under the age of 18 is a child under the Children Act 1989.
The purpose of this policy is;
This policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation and/or socio-economic background. We ensure all children have a positive and enjoyable experience through kickboxing at the PKA, in a safe environment and are protected from abuse whilst participating.
As part of our safeguarding policy PKA will;
- Promote and prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities in respect of safeguarding and is provided with appropriate learning opportunities to recognise, identify and respond to signs of abuse, neglect and other safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people.
- Ensure appropriate action is taken in the event of incidents/concerns of abuse and support provided to the individual/s who raise or disclose the concern.
- Ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored.
The policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in PKA. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal/exclusion from the organisation.
Taking Photographs or Videos of Classes
Any photographs or videos taken by myself will only be done for the purpose of coach assisting and promotion. This will only be done with consent being received via parents/guardians. Parents/guardians are made aware of this via the membership forms upon joining to ensure that we have a clear policy on this. Parents/guardians are also permitted to take photos and video footage as long as their child is within the class itself and no other objections is raised.
Confidentiality
We strongly follow the Data Protection Act and as a result any information passed onto us will be held in strict confidence. The information will ONLY be passed on should a need arise that concerns the potential safety of a child. In these instances it will only be passed on to the relevant authorities.
If any circumstance arose that involved your child and another, DO NOT CONTACT the other party directly, by doing this you could make things worse and could effect your case if it were to go any further. This will be left to the appropriate authorities to ensure any issues are dealt with in the correct and appropriate manner.
And lastly, if there is anything you would like to discuss please approach me in anyway possible and I will help.
Sensei Tom Davies of Paragon Kickboxing Academy.
